WDS Announcement

Amazing. Incredible. Unhooked.

The Global Video Academy has been awarded a WDS Foundation grant to build this online learning center.

We still can’t believe it! We are one of only three scholarship grants awarded this year.  No way! And the hard part is that we’d been told way back in June that we were getting the grant, but we couldn’t tell anyone until the official announcement was made today on the stage at the World Domination Summit in Portland, Oregon.

Here’s the wild thing, as you can see, we are on the video screen because instead of being on stage with all of the cool WDS people, we are in Africa, already working on shooting the material for this school.  We really miss meeting everyone and making connections and getting people signed up to be part of the pre-launch community… but Africa is cool too.

We’ll be at WDS 2017 in Portland — July 15 & 16… hope to see you there!

Joseph Sindorf is an award-winning photographer and international humanitarian filmmaker who has worked in more than seventy-five nations of the world. His work normally takes him to places where people are at their worst — in the aftermath of major natural disasters; surviving famine or drought; and suffering intense injustice. His video work has won international film festivals, the NATAS Emmy Award, the George Foster Peabody Award and many others. When he’s not taking images, his passion is teaching others to use the gear they have to shoot the best photographs or capture the best video they are capable of. He is a major proponent of using and mastering what you have until you seriously outgrow it… even if that’s just a smartphone camera. He’s taught photography and cinematography workshops in 15 nations of the world and has guest lectured at several universities. Joe is happily married. His wife. Kathleen, is a college professor. Together they have two incredible daughters who will someday change the world — or at least their part of it. He loves to find stories that matter and tell them in an engaging, visual style that compels people to take action… and train other people to do the same.
